Y-12F completes atmospheric survey demonstration flights in Harbin
According to Aviation Industry Corporation of China, the Y-12F atmospheric survey aircraft completed its demonstration program in Harbin, logging 12 sorties and nearly 30 flight hours. It collected three-dimensional data on fine particles, gaseous pollutants, greenhouse gases and cloud water. Peking University leads the project, with AVIC Harbin handling aircraft modifications and integration and adding more than 60 items of mission equipment.

What to know
- 01
Flight tasks included emission-flux measurements, vertical profiling, stratus-cloud observations and out-and-back atmospheric remote-sensing routes.
- 02
The aircraft gathered data under polluted, clean and rainy conditions.
Why it matters
The project primarily validates integrated airborne atmospheric measurement technology relevant to precise atmospheric monitoring and environmental management.
