Qt releases Clate beta for visual and AI-assisted interface design

Qt has introduced Clate, a Qt Quick-based tool for designing embedded interfaces without writing code. Designers can use a visual editor or conversational AI assistant and export QML files for engineers to integrate into Qt applications. The tool targets industrial equipment, medical instruments and consumer electronics, and its first beta, version 0.6, is available as a free download.

What to know

  • 01

The AI assistant connects to Anthropic’s Claude Agent through ACP and requires users to sign in with their own Claude account.

  • 02

Clate 0.6 does not yet support reusable design components or data binding; Qt expects the commercial release in summer 2027.

Why it matters

Clate connects embedded-interface design with Qt application development through QML exports, but it remains in beta.
